Project # 1 First Photo- Claire Cavanaugh





I chose this photo from the "Aerie Real" campaign as the first photo for my topic: body image and objectification in the media. As stated on the photo itself, "the girl in this photo has not been retouched." Following the motto, "the real you is sexy", Aerie has launched a campaign that can be found on their website, all over the rest of the internet, and even Instagram. Through this campaign, the lingerie company stemming off of American Eagle Outfitters has taken a vow to stop putting their photos through Photoshop or other editing programs, and in addition, to stop using "supermodels". Keeping with this promise, they have also begun featuring plus-sized models in their photos.
